Autumn Fun at Amberley Primary School

Amberley Primary School hosted the annual Autumn Fayre on a brilliantly sunny day just before the half term holiday. As always our wonderful supporters from the Friends of Amberley School (FASA) organised the Fayre, manned the stalls and raised a fantastic £500+!

A display of pumpkins was provided by Parham House and the children had great fun with apple bobbing, pressing apple juice and playing conkers. The school playground was transformed into a rustic camp with hay bales to sit on and the kettle was boiling on an open wood fire.

Children, parents and village residents were out in force to celebrate the school becoming a Primary and to enjoy the autumn goodies on offer at the stalls

We even had a visit from our local MP the Right Honourable Nick Herbert who helped us celebrate becoming a Primary School for the first time in our history. A new classroom has been installed to to accommodate our Year 6 children and the school has recruited a very experienced teacher, Mr Paul Armitage, to work with the children towards the Key Stage 2 SATs next year.

Mr Herbert is pictured above outside the new classroom flanked by Mr Jon Gilbert, Head Teacher on his left and Ray Jackson, Chair of Governors on his right.

“It is great to see a rural school like Amberley Primary being such a key part of the local community.
Staff and governors have worked hard to ensure a smooth transition to becoming a Primary school
and it is delightful to see the children, parents and residents so involved in the Autumn Fayre,” said Nick.

Exciting times for Amberley School

In September 2017, Amberley School officially becomes Amberley Primary School and for the very first time welcomes Year 6 pupils.  The new classroom has been delivered during the summer holidays and final fitting out works are now under way. When I visited this morning the contractors were hard at work but struggling with the muddy conditions as a result of last nights rain.

The new classroom is very spacious and will provide an excellent learning environment for Year 6 pupils. The latest IT equipment is being provided and the class will even have their own air containing unit.

The school has employed a very experienced teacher for Year 6 and Paul Armitage has in depth skills in Maths and Science and well as a love for English - quite a combination

The arrival of Year 6 pupils heralds an exciting new era for Amberley Primary School and with the progress made in the last year, the school enters the new academic year with renewed optimism and a commitment to provide the very best education to all children in the care of the school
